about

My name is Ev´Yan; nice to meet you.

This is my personal, not-so-private diary. It has absolutely nothing to do with tea. Within this small space, I write about whatever goes on inside of my head, which comes in the form of: explicit reflections, nonsensical musings, daily fashion statements, & passionate, no holds barred writings. You will find that some of those themes will be more prominent than others.

I live near Los Angeles with my self-development writer husband Jonathan, & our acutely spoiled dog-child, Sofie Aiko. I used to be a hairstylist (& an advice columnist, amongst other things); now… I call myself a stay-at-home-housewife, an amateur photographer, & a budding artist. I have an irrational fear of fish, I write with my left hand, & I don’t eat anything with a heartbeat. I’m a lover of art, music, classic film, & literature.

I strongly believe that honesty is the best policy, & I do my damnedest everyday to live within that adage.

Anything else you’d like to know about me you could easily find by going through my archives or FAQs.

my favorites:

books: shopgirl by Steve Martin; Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brönte; The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald; Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert; The Awakening by Kate Chopin; & all Nancy Drew books.

television shows: CSI; Alfred Hitchcock Presents; The Twilight Zone; I Love Lucy; Tell Me You Love Me; The Amazing Race.

music: Radiohead, Air, Little Dragon, Imogen Heap (Frou Frou), Portishead, Amon Tobin, Sia, Muse, Reverie Sound Revue, Zero 7, Coldplay, Miles Davis, Death Cab for Cutie, Mogwai, Lykke Li, Sigur Rós, Third Eye Blind, Vince Guaraldi, Telepopmusik, etc.

quote: “Nothing of me is original. I am the combined effort of everybody I’ve ever known.” — Chuck Palahnuik
