(palm trees in Palm Desert, taken 6/7/2010.)
In my last post, I talked about some changes being made to Apricot Tea; one of those being themed posting on a particular day of the week.
I’ve decided that on every Friday, I’ll make a list here of all the things that tickled my fancy on the internet. (Thanks, Liz, for the inspiration!)
While I’m very happy to have picked a day & a theme, this segment is a work in progress. I’d like to think of a more clever, quirky title — Link Love Fridays doesn’t feel right to me, so it’s temporary at the moment — & I’d also like to incorporate a cute graphic.
For now, though, here’s some links I’m loving today.
- Check out this quick video Jonathan & I did together, in announcement & celebration of my contribution to Illuminated Mind. This is the first time we’ve video blogged together, & I find that it really encapsulates our [my] chemistry & goofiness.
- I’m also doing a guest-posting series on my mom’s blog while she’s on her own hiatus. She asked her readers what they wanted to know about her daughters, & this week I touched on what I learned from my parents’ divorce.
- This infographic showing the earth’s highest peaks & mysterious depths really blows my mind.
- One of my favorite blogs, Rabbit Write, talks about women’s body hair & our aversion to it; a must read.
- Did you know that gelatin is “a protein produced by partial hydrolysis of collagen extracted from the boiled bones, connective tissues, organs and some intestines of animals such as domesticated cattle, pigs, and horses”? I knew, but not to this extent. Makes you think twice about eating an adorable little gummy bear or a bowl of Jell-O, doesn’t it? [Source]
- I am absolutely fascinated by shipwrecks & ruins. This photo-post about Battleship Island in Japan is so haunting that it gives me goosebumps.
- If you’re a fashion blogger, you must read this: The Price of Fashion Blogging. (& also this by Ashe Mischief.)
- Top 10 signs you’re reading bad erotica. Humorous, brash, & true.
- & here are eight products you think you need, but don’t, like shaving cream & leave-in conditioner.
(If you have any ideas about how to spruce up this section, leave them in the comments section. I’d love to hear them!)
