apricot’s closet: boring outfit/blabbering thoughts.

pants & new sandals are from Ross; purse & necklace are from Forever21; necklaces are my own creations.
Last night, I was looking at Google Analytics, analyzing how people find my blog through interesting keyword searches. & one person found my blog by searching “stop feeling inferior to girls that are prettier.” I’m not sure which post she — I’m going to assume it’s a ’she’ — found that directed her to my blog, but the search phrase has stuck with me ever since seeing it. It truly is the perfect mantra.
Stop feeling inferior to girls that are prettier.
Stop feeling inferior to girls that are prettier.
Stop feeling inferior to girls that are prettier.
Stop feeling inferior to girls that are prettier.
Stop feeling inferior to girls that are prettier.
Stop feeling inferior to girls that are prettier.
Yes, Ev’Yan, stop it.
& while you’re at it, stop second-guessing yourself.

AMEN!
on Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 at 12:46 pm:
Your “boring” style is still gorgeous. And sometimes we all need that reminder – PS though, you’re stunning, inside and out. xoxo :)
on Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 at 12:52 pm:
i’m going to check this google analytics out.
i hate days when i am my worst enemy. don’t second guess yourself – you are wise. you are beautiful. you are honest. you are good people.
ps. i love how you pull off grey. i struggle with that color!
on Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 at 12:55 pm:
I’m wearing almost the same thing today! We’re twins, sort of. :)
That’s a great mantra.
And you’re lovely.
on Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 at 1:12 pm:
HERE HERE!
You’re dreamy Ev’Yan, I wish we got to chill more in Vegas /sigh = )
on Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 at 1:20 pm:
I think your outfit is fabulous as usual. I wish I could look so effortlessly stylish.
on Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 at 1:38 pm:
that’s a lovely mantra to have. a sometimes very necessary reminder.
on Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 at 2:44 pm:
I love the mantra, but I think you should just cut it down to “stop feeling inferior”. :)
on Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 at 3:04 pm:
I do like that idea, it’s a great mantra! PS love the necklace!
on Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 at 3:53 pm:
Awesome necklace!
And yea, I think that is a pretty great mantra. I think a lot of girl drama stems from being unnecessarily threatened by other girls or by feeling non-existent competition!
on Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 at 4:53 pm:
Sometimes boring outfits are the best. But I must say, yours isn’t all that boring! Love your necklace. And that mantra is powerful.
on Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 at 5:26 pm:
I love outfits like the one you are wearing: so stylishly simple.
My heart breaks for whoever was searching for ways to make themselves feel better. I keep picturing a young girl (maybe 13 or 14?) being so frustrated with her appearance and not knowing what to do.
That whole inferiority thing, it can get the best of you sometimes, WHICH SUCKS. But thankfully, it’s a feeling that passes.
on Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 at 8:38 pm:
Wouldn’t it be nice if these things were just automatic?
on Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 at 9:17 pm:
You make boring look stunning! That’s a great mantra, and it is so easy to let go of it, so keep holding on.
on Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 at 10:07 pm:
boring no… laid back chic- that’s more like it.
i love the mantra. it’s fantastic. just like you!
on Thursday, June 18th, 2009 at 2:30 am:
great mantra, so true…

Words to live by.
People keep coming to my blog after searching for ‘Jennifer Beals ass’.
Like…..an INSANE amount of people. I would love to see how disappointed they are with their find.
:)
on Thursday, June 18th, 2009 at 5:30 am:
Love the jeans and the mantra, you are very pretty btw ;)
on Thursday, June 18th, 2009 at 5:44 am:
This is true!! So many times we are busy looking at our flaws that we forget how beautiful we are. It’s like we face people daily and they say aww you are beautiful or you look nice…and then we go home and look in the mirror and think “what the hell are they looking at? or ” they were only trying to be nice” Ev’Yan I dont know you personally but your pictures & beauty is what drew me into your blog and then the few times we spoke the email i realized that it’s not just on the outside it’s also within. We have to stop looking at who is prettier than us even though they may seem like they dont have any imperfection believe it or not they do!!! So now that I have encouraged myself lol im gonna go :)
on Thursday, June 18th, 2009 at 6:34 am:
omg i miss ross so much. and yeah… most the time pretty girls have their own issues… we all do.
on Thursday, June 18th, 2009 at 7:33 am:
LOVE THAT MANTRA.
No more comparing. :)
on Thursday, June 18th, 2009 at 1:57 pm:
Absolute perfect mantra.
on Thursday, June 18th, 2009 at 8:53 pm:
I think your outfit looks so cute! Simplicity is so modern chic, yo! All I’ve been wanting to wear lately is v-neck plain Ts.
Great manta, you gorgeous girlie!
on Thursday, June 18th, 2009 at 9:19 pm:
Wearing jeans and a tee and still exuding all manner of fabulousness is what style is. Ev, you have it.
And girl, people have found my blog with the most random of search words. ‘Tranny’ seems to come up a lot. LOL.
The mantra is golden. It should be printed just like that on a shirt.
on Thursday, June 18th, 2009 at 11:54 pm:
Like always – you look fabulous.
Love that random search phase! I’d take it as a compliment.
Thanks now that’s stuck in my head, lol.
on Friday, June 19th, 2009 at 4:07 am:
oh gosh, such a good motto!
on Friday, June 19th, 2009 at 4:44 am:
Cute outfit love the shoes and great quote xoxoxx
on Friday, June 19th, 2009 at 2:37 pm:
That mantra is oddly cyclic because once one stops feeling inferior and gains some confidence, they end up feeling and seeming prettier to themselves and others.
I want to put that quote across my mirror.
on Saturday, June 20th, 2009 at 11:59 am:
Amen, my dear. I need to keep that in the back of my mind, too. It’s so difficult sometimes, because I believe that most girls these days are used to constantly comparing themselves to everyone around them. It’s awful. I wish I could stop.
And, for the record, I seem to recal several conversations that took place in Vegas, in which we basically talked about how you were gorgeous beyond all reason. Yes, we were talking behind your back. And yes, they were all good things.
:)
on Saturday, June 20th, 2009 at 12:58 pm:
that’s a great Mantra, your style and look reminds me of Halle
on Saturday, June 20th, 2009 at 3:25 pm:
Soooooo, I’m super jealous of your style, as previously stated, and cannot wait for you to re-open your advice request form! I could totally use some help on a chic capsule wardrobe for my year-long stay in Sweden :)

on Sunday, June 21st, 2009 at 4:35 pm:
how about ’stop thinking other girls are prettier than me’ ? ; )
on Sunday, June 21st, 2009 at 5:23 pm:
I mostly get searches about “having a wank.” Oh well.
on Monday, June 22nd, 2009 at 3:17 pm:
I actually found your blog through the Illuminated Minds site, which I found through Zen Habits, which I found through a very dear friend. :)
on Monday, June 22nd, 2009 at 8:15 pm:

on Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009 at 9:19 pm:
I think I need to write that on a piece of paper and tape it to my mirror.
on Wednesday, June 24th, 2009 at 12:07 pm:
i’d say basic but not boring. i think someone who can look fabulous in basics (such as you) is a true fashionista. i’m wearing that same shirt right now.
you look great.
on Tuesday, June 30th, 2009 at 2:52 pm:
I can definitely appreciate someone who can take an outfit from Ross and Forever 21 and make it look just as fabulous as the girl rockin expensive brands. I think you’re great! This is my first time on here and I’m loving it thus far. The outfit is cute and the your mantra is cool. Keep on keepin’ on!!!
on Sunday, January 10th, 2010 at 1:13 am:
