Yesterday, I had the pleasure of going to my very first book club meeting. & I say “book club” loosely — hence, the quotations — because only ONE of us actually read the book (The Monsters of Templeton) in its entirety. We basically discussed the book for all of 10 minutes & then chatted about everything else under the sun. So, it is a “book club” but only barely.
Kerri was the only one I knew. I met Crystal, Lani, & Amanda that day, having only read their blogs a few times, but they were absolute gems. Seriously the sweetest, sincerest, most beautiful people I’ve met since The Amazing Vegas Trip.
As we were all sitting around talking about poo water, menstrual blood, our lover’s crazy ex-girlfriends, & getting peed on in the shower (we’re such a classy bunch), I couldn’t help but feel blessed. Because, amazingly, I met all of these girls online — every single one of them. & not one of them were creepy or obnoxious or snooty or ignorant. Our meeting wasn’t awkward or exclusive. They were all just pure joys to be around. Their conversations enriched my own life & made me feel… special. Like I belonged. It was wonderful.
Also: this tiny little skull charm — which I’m wearing above — is my new favorite thing. I used to think skulls were so morbid, but then I realized that they can be used as a symbol that death is imminent; so I should never forget about the present moment. A terrific reminder, I think.

I have been receiving several submissions a day ever since I started my advice blog! While I am so thrilled — & completely appreciative — it’s taking me ions to reply back to questions that were submitted 2-3 weeks ago, & for that I apologize. For time being, I have closed the advice submission form, to allow myself to catch up with the other questions I have yet to get to. Thank you so much for being so patient, & for making ask apricot such a success! When I re-open the form, I will be sure to let you know!
