1.) I’ve learned that it IS possible for men to be like they are perceived in the movies. They can be romantic; they can be sweet; they can be intuitive. & they really do pick flowers for you while they walk home from work.
2.) I’ve learned that my husband is truly the only person that can quiet my overactive & extremely obnoxious hypochondriac tendencies. Example:
Me: Babe! I think I’ve got tooth cancer!!!
Him: No, you don’t.
Me: Well, does this look like a tumor to you? [opens mouth]
Him: No, it doesn’t.
Me: Well, maybe I have a flesh eating disease; do you think so?
Him: … Probably.
Me: Hey! That’s not funny.
3.) I’ve learned that even though a man’s genitals are not very pretty to look at, we can still be friends… with benefits.

tank top & rings, from Forever21; shorts, from Ross; fishnets, from Target; flats, from Cali; bowler hat, from H&M, saber-tooth necklace, from my closet; bracelets are miscellaneous.
[ETA: I was mistaken; this is not a bowler hat. What I'm wearing is obviously a trilby hat, or something like it. Thank you to a dear reader who corrected me!]
My style is changing drastically. A year ago, I would have never worn something like this. But lately, I have been drawn to men’s inspired hats & costume-y rings. I used to loathe hats & gaudy rings, but I’m attracted to them for some reason; I don’t know what’s come over me. But I DO know that I am in love with this hat. Just ask my husband; he’ll tell you. Or… rather, I’ll tell you.
(Which means, it’s story time!)

cape dress, from Cali; pants, from Ross; gladiator sandals, from Target; ampersand charm necklace, from Luna Clay Design; bracelets are miscellaneous.
There is something so effortlessly cool about wearing a dress with jeans. I love the look, & I love this dress.
It has such an interesting silhouette, but it only shows when I’m walking around. I tried to do a jump-shot so that I could depict the neat way it moves, but the dress didn’t budge. Even so, the picture — which was NOT as easy as it looks — turned out interestingly. I look like I’m flying. (You can see the picture here.)
I foresee this dress & these amazing gladiator sandals being worn a lot for the summer.
& it seems as though summer has already arrived here in Southern California. The weather forecast says that it will be 98 degrees (F) today… We’re not even in May yet. Somebody kill me, please.

Miss Steph Anne, from Luxe Chandelier, invited me to play photo-tag.
I’m truly honored to play along, because all the cool kids are doing it, so perhaps this means that I am cool, too. Perhaps.
Although right now, I don’t feel cool in the least. Because while my husband is off doing some social networking at a hipster gathering in LA — with an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, & all — I willingly decided to stay home, like the introvert that I am, & listen to my neighbor hack up a lung. Yes, I’m pretty sure that if you were to look up “LAME” in the dictionary, my picture & a big arrow pointing to it would be there…
So, to play photo-tag, you must snap a picture of yourself just as you are in the moment, with no touching up, or primping. (& that was difficult for me to do, for I primp when I’m in pajamas, about to go to bed.) Then you tag other bloggers, with the hopes that you weren’t the only one taking a picture without any makeup on.
Here is what I look like on a nightly basis:

I snapped this picture while watching television. & I don’t know if I ever mentioned that I wear glasses…? Only for reading, & such.
I tag: Shannon, Chanel, Kyla, Abby, Amanda, Alicia, Kate, & my mommy.

I am determined to get my hair to that length, even if it kills me (& it just might). I had it once like that before, but cut it all off on an impulse. I regret that now.
I am terribly impatient when it comes to my hair. I switch back & forth between styles, like the changing of the weather here in California (which is practically bi-polar). I go from wanting a short pixie crop (ie. Victoria Beckham), to wanting something longer & edgier (ie. Rihanna).
I usually cannot keep my mind from changing, but I will grow my hair out, so help me God. I just have to remain diligent & ignore the adorable pixie cuts I am constantly seeing…
Also: I was tagged by Kate, at Kites in Summer; one of my favorite reads. She drenches the pages of her blog with beautiful images & exquisite writings. When she updates, I am a happy girl. I absolutely adore her blog.
The rules are…
1. Respond and rework: answer the questions on your blog, replace one question that you dislike with a question of your own invention, add one more question of your own. (I deleted some of the questions I had no answers to. I figured it would be better to leave them unanswered, than to have said “I don’t know.”)
What is your current obsession? Growing out my hair (obviously), redefining my personal style, & my newest venture askapricot.com, a project dedicated to me helping others if they need advice. For some reason, I’ve always had the hankering to be an advice columnist; it’s been an on-going dream of mine, & one that I wanted to make into a reality. I haven’t done much with the project, as Jonathan just finished the design, but once I can get the inspiration to launch it, I think it will be a rewarding experience for me. (If you’re in need of some advice –anything at all! — shoot me an email!)
What is your weirdest obsession? Dr. Mario on Super NES.

tank, from Cali; harem pants & blazer, from Forever21; shoes, from DSW; black rubber bracelets, from Urban Outfitters; the necklace was my grandmother’s.
FOUND! A black blazer, & black harem pants that are skinny from the calf down.
& I have fallen in love with this necklace all over again; even though it’s kind of obnoxious.

long cardigan, from Target; t-shirt, from Ugmonk.com; pants, from Xi; shoes, from Cali; necklace is my own creation; bracelets are miscellaneous.
I am a happy girl. April is here, which means that my No Buying Clothes for the Month of March is over. (Thank you, Jesus.) The jeans, as well as the cardigan, were one of the first purchases I made after my hiatus. & I must say: I earned it.
I did a massive spring cleaning in my closet, & got rid of a lot of my clothing. One big bag is going to donations, but I saved my most precious garments (mostly dresses) for YOU. & they’re all priced lower than what I paid for them.
So stay tuned; apricot’s closet will be updated in a few days.
:]
