Yesterday, I perused around Old Town for a few hours, window-shopping & book-browsing. Lover got off of work early & met me there… & we had a sushi lunch together at Kabuki. It was my first real sushi experience.

I’ve eaten sushi before, homemade by my mother, but I never really liked it. I prefer it when the sushi is inside out; the seaweed on the inside, the rice on the outside. & because my mother never really knew how to make rolls like that, I always ended up eating a peanut butter sandwich.

When they finally brought our order — a spread of cucumber rolls, avocado rolls, & asparagus rolls, all inside out — I was a little hesitant to try it. But sweet mother of pearl… when I took a bite of the cucumber roll, I swear I heard angels singing. & then I tried the avocado roll (which is now my favorite) & I was thisclose to standing up & shouting “By George, there is a God! Hallelujah!!!”

In short: it was so bloody good.

I think I have found my new favorite treat to eat. (My mouth is watering now, just thinking of those decadent rolls.) & I have to say that this is a huge feat for me, for I am a VERY finicky eater, & I rarely warm up to the idea of trying anything new. But good Lord, sushi is amazingly good.
