Well, here they are before: (this picture was taken ages ago)
&… I suppose it’s obvious how they ended up afterward; poor little things…
I originally wanted them to be heavily distressed jeans. I was feeling very bored & lonely in my apartment (& a little bitter about something) so I thought a nice craft project would keep me entertained. Thus began my aggression against these innocent jeans. One thing led to another & they ended up being long, grunge-esque shorts, slashed & ripped open, completely obliterated; exactly the look I was going for.
The method to this madness involved a serrated knife & a cheese grater.
I regret not documenting the violence against my jeans. It would have made for a smashing tutorial! But, if you’re at all interested in attacking your own pair, here is my mini-tutorial:

I’m very pleased that I finally found some up-to-par black skinnies. The ripped detail makes me feel like such a bad-ass. I wanted to show a closeup shot of the jeans, so that the ripped detail would be more prominent — because it’s a lot more tattered than it appears on film. But I decided against it, seeing that it would be a crotch shot, & I don’t necessarily want my crotch to be in your face. (I know you’re grateful.)
Regardless… these jeans are absolutely perfect.
& I really have nothing else to say, other than…
(how exciting that we will finally drop the “elect” & say President Obama, straight away.)

[disclaimer: as serious as I can seem in this blog, I am really very goofy. I laugh at my own jokes & make up silly stories with my overactive imagination. & while I don't fully believe in disclaimers, I felt the need to warn you, if by chance this post comes out of no where. For people who know me, this is just typical Ev'Yan nonsense.]
A few weeks ago, Lover & I watched the movie The Strangers (which features supermodel Gemma Ward as one of the maniacs, if you didn’t know) & I was completely engrossed. Not so much in sheer belief — because I knew it’s just a movie, after all — but because I was so wrapped up in it emotionally. I was absolutely baffled by the decisions this victimized couple have made together while being tormented, & I couldn’t help but wonder things.
Here, I’ll give an example:

Some very exciting things have been happening around these parts, & I’m very excited to share them with all of you.

I had the privilege of being an editor for his book, so I know first hand that it’s utterly amazing. (& please believe that I am not just saying this because he is my husband, although my heart is just gushing with pride for him.)

I couldn’t decide which cardigan to wear with this ensemble; so I wore them both at different times during the day. Turns out it was far too hot outside to need either (nearly 80 degrees Fahrenheit!) but such is life when you live in [obnoxiously] Sunny California.
