apricot’s fantasy christmas list.

First thing’s first: I have written a fashion article on Brazen Careerist called, How To Avoid Fashion Suicide This Holiday Season. I am über-proud of this article. This is the first one I’ve ever done, & I think it turned out pretty well, considering I’m not a “professional” in the fashion field. Do tell me what you think! I’m curious to know your thoughts & opinions, dear readers.

& now for a sad spectacle of greedy desires: my fantasy Christmas list.

When I saw Kerri’s modest Christmas list (& it truly is modest, compared to mine), I immediately wanted to create my own. Because it’s been YEARS since I’ve written a thorough & well thought-out Christmas list. & while it’s extremely gluttonous & materialistic to jot down my current & very expensive covets, I need to get this out of my system. A girl can dream, can’t she?

I’m also hoping by doing this, I’ll leave a trail of hints towards Lover’s direction. Although he insists that he knows exactly what I want — & he just might — I think this list could be of some help if he happens to get stuck… or something.

In all truth, this list is meant to be taken lightly, not literally. Although… some items aren’t too terribly expensive.

what I want for Christmas is…

  • Dogeared Lucky Bamboo pendant; it’s so cute & quaint, & would be perfect for layering with other chains.
  • Flapper headband, in Royal; an absolutely gorgeous color. I already have a few outfits picked out to accentuate this lovely little headband. Although… I don’t know if I would grow tired of it, seeing as it’s so extremely girly. I’m hoping that if I got it, I could play it down a bit. (My love for androgyny surprises even me!)
  • Coming & Going Coat Rack; preferably in red.
  • Nikon D60; fully equipped & fully expensive. I lust after this camera.
  • I Love Lucy: The Complete Series; I need this in my life. Lucy seems to make everything okay.
  • A red ukulele; unlike Bessie Blue (my harmonica) I will learn how to bust out a real tune.
  • iPod classic, in black; I need this sexy little devil, for I am this close to exceeding the space limit in my Nano.
  • The Google Phone; also known as an Android or a G-1. This will suffice my cravings for that wretched iPhone people keep raving about.
  • A brother (or sister) for Sofie Aiko; we now see that having Sam around keeps her lonely feelings at bay. She now has someone to play with & doesn’t rely on Lover & I nearly as much. But Sam will be leaving — he is not our dog, of course — & when he leaves, she’ll be heart broken.

& that is quite it. Nothing more, nothing less. & all of this is just that much more confusing, being that we were married on Christmas. So perhaps, if I had it my way, this list could be split in half; one side will be for Christmas presents, & the other, anniversary presents. (I am only joking, Honey.)

We haven’t set up Christmas decorations yet, but it’s on our to-do list for next week. In my family, we always had a synthetic tree. We never got a real one, because we had had the fake one for so many years. So last Christmas, I got to experience the joys — & messiness — of a real live tree. We bought it too early though, which resulted in the tree getting crispy before the 25th. So this year, we’ll play it smart & get it just a few weeks before Christmas so we can relish in the heavenly smells of pine, without having to clean up so many needles.

The tree we got last year (which is the one shown in the picture) was far too big for our small studio apartment; it was like another piece of furniture. Thankfully, we’re in a larger place now so it won’t overtake our place. Regardless of the size & the inconvenience, it was beautiful tree. We were quite sad when we had to put it to rest.

(want to give me a Christmas present this year that costs nothing? All I want from you is this: register at The Supermelon, & vote for me for their Real Style contest. I’m in the lead now… but there’s plenty of time for that to change (December 19th). That’s all I want from you; what would you like from me?)

I love that flapper headband, except I’d get it in brown instead (would go better with my hair/complexion). :)

Tip on keeping real trees healthy and “alive” well past xmas – put a bit of tree food (not sure what they actually call it) or soap in the water to keep bacteria from growing, and keep it away from the heat registers.

Wow, I can’t remember the last time I made a Christmas list or even told anyone anything specific that I wanted! This looks fun… maybe I will make one for myself…

Great article. Congrats on the assignment!

I don’t have a very specific list, but just a overall list of things I want in general. For instance, I want a watch, but I didn’t write down what kind. It may be good for me to do a specific list like yours.

I liked the article too, and congrats on it being your first!

It’s fun to make lists like this. Can’t wait to see pictures of the tree this year! My roommates and I have a synthetic one and it has been up since before Thanksgiving. :)

Loved your article, Tea. Very nice indeed.

And I, too, lust after that D60…badly. I’m to the point of dreaming about it ans stalking it on ebay. It’s sad. that G1 Phone wouldn’t be bad, either. LOL.
