apricot’s closet: florals, polka dots, & peacock feathers.

dress, from Target; boots, from Payless; handmade headband was a gift from my sister.

I’ve been wanting a new dress for a while; a dress that was exceptionally beautiful, but not so beautiful & dainty that it couldn’t be easily paired with my black boots, adding some — dare I say? — manliness to it.

I don’t feel like this is the perfect dress for that description, but it’s pretty darn close; not to mention very functional & practical. I almost bought a grey boyfriend cardigan about the same length as this dress to go with it, but had to refrain, reminding myself that (apparently) Autumn weather in LA doesn’t begin until Winter starts. [note: sarcasm]

Also… I’ve been itching to show off the designer headband I got for my birthday — a present I certainly forgot to mention, but for good reason. Save the absolute best for last!

This designer headband, with black feathers (which blend in perfectly with the color of my hair, & makes for a neat little effect) & one single, elegant peacock feather, was made by my sister. She has been sporting these cute headband things for a while now, & I told her I wanted her to make me one soon. & she did, which made for a perfect birthday present. I absolutely adore it.

Obviously, you can’t wear this little gem with just jeans & a t-shirt; no, you’ll risk dumbing it down. You’ve got to find something that collaborates with it perfectly. & as soon as I saw this dress hanging on the rack, I knew that it would go amazingly with my peacock headband.

& the rest is history, I suppose.

    Hi apricot!

I came across your blog while looking for short hair inspirations. Any who, your husband sounds wonderful. From barely reviewing your blog, it sounds you may be draining him with your insecurities. you seem to require constant approval. Don’t blow a wonderful relationship on unimportant things. You have a hair issue and i TOTALLy get it but json’t let it paralyze you. Your short hair is cute. some will like it and some want. oh well…who gives a f@#$! at the end of the day your confidence in YOURSELF is what turns up the heat. grow up and turn on the “grown and sexy” and stop obsessing over the trival. so boring… love you! hotbap!

@ Randi Mae: How funny that you tried on the same dress at the same time I did. :] I’m sorry this one didn’t look so well on you; I do hope you found something else to suffice!

@ Sasi: thank you, my dear. ;]

@ Christina: Thank you! I am not much a headband wearer myself. But I couldn’t resist this one. =]

@ Muriel Mercurial: Aw, thank you. I think she’ll be flattered to know that so many people adore her little headbands. :]

    @ Kate: thanks!

@ Mary: Aww, thank you on all counts! You’re so nice. :]

@ hottiebap: I appreciated your comment in the best way possible, but I’m having a hard time understanding what you mean by it. It seems as though you either meant to comment on another post of mine, or that you have taken things completely out of the context. I don’t understand why you would think that I am draining my husband with my insecurities & that I seek constant approval, pertaining to the post your commented on. I also don’t understand why you think I have a hair issue…? & why you feel that I need to “grow up & stop obsessing over trivial things …?

I’m really confused. Were your comments meant for another post you read of mine? One of a later date, perhaps? Or are you simply assuming these things, based on “barely reviewing” my blog?

I’m not trying to be “boring” nor am I trying to be unnecessarily bitchy. I’m just curious at how my readers interpret my writings, & if there is any kind of misunderstanding regarding something I’ve said, I’d like to fix it so that others don’t get the same reaction as you did.

I absolutely love the headband. Peacocks are one of my favorite birds (the other being a heron). It also looks really awesome with your short hair. hope you have a fabulous day… jennifer

I love love your hair! My hair is shoulder length and I’ve always had short hair envy. Like I wanna run out and cut my hair, of course I don’t have the guts to do it. I like your style too! Keep up the good work:-)

1.UM UM UM HOW DO YOU KEEP YOUR SKIN SO EVEN AND BEAUTIFUL?

    2. I’m baackkk!

    3. And I have been working on a petit Christmas present pour vous.

    4. I hope that doesn’t sound too creepy.

    5. It’s just that I’ve been so grateful for the magazine you sent ages ago, and it was taking me so long to write back to you that I thought–why not make a Christmas gift out of it and make somewhat of a bigger thing of it later?
    :]

Thanks for letting me know the status of your myspace page via messaging. Good to know you haven’t forgotten me; I haven’t forgotten you, either! It has been a crazy summer. -__-

@ sueper: thank you, doll. :] I’m proud of her for making such a nice gift for me.

@ Shannon: thanks, beautiful! I’m flattered that you like it (since you are the queen of fashion statements, yourself!).

@ osojazy: You should NOT have told me that Payless has cute shoes. Target, I already know, because I go there twice a week at least… but Payless? I need some new boots, I think. ;]

    @ kristy: thank you. =]

    @ menuca: thanks!

@ Jennifer: thank you so much. :] I hope you have a wonderful day as well.

@ Glamgrrl: thank you so much! I appreciate the lovely comments. Your blog is fantastic!

@ WendyB: You know, I’ve never actually been too fond of feathers, but I just couldn’t resist th cuteness of this one. :] & of course, it’s designer.

@ Natalie: 1.) It’s called “drinkalotofwater” diet, as well as “refusingtoeatgreasyfleshofanimals.” I’ve always had pretty easy skin, but because of my switch to a vegetarian diet, it’s just glowing now. But, I DO get those ugly pimples. I’m actually battling a few now, thanks to the dreaded Aunt Flo.

    2.) YAYYY. :]

    3.) You have?! How thoughtful!

4.) No, it doesn’t sound creepy! I’m excited. :] thank you!

5.) Awww, well that is a nice gesture. I’m looking forward to seeing what it could be. As you can see, I love handmade things. :] & of course I couldn’t forget you!

My my my, I am catching up on the goings-on of apricot-tea, and HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY! You have the same birthday as my dear childhood friend Sheena. She is also the same age you are now.
    Great people share great birthdays.

Can’t wait to hear more about your new apartment, what a big event!
You and your husband remain absolutely adorable.
