apricot’s closet: monday blues.

Not only am I not liking the fact that it is Monday, but I also have a female exam this morning. & we all know what those include. I don’t feel it necessary to get all dolled up for the Gyno; why should I? It’s more of a “Wham! Bam! Thank you, ma’am!” sort of a visit anyway. No need to formalize my attire for a visit to the clinic. I did, however, wear something delightfully cute yesterday (Sunday) afternoon.

Tube dress from Ross (you can imagine how old it is); skinnies from a store here, whose name escapes me at the moment, but they fit PERFECT; red shoes are thrifted; & that radical necklace — that I absolutely hated; I mean, literally gagged at the thought of it at first glance — was a giveaway from the jewelry box of my grandmother. Obviously, I learned to fall in love with this necklace & I only don it when it is cohesive with the perfect outfit, which is pretty rare. I’d also like to add that my grandma has a very eclectic taste in jewelry.

Sunday was an uneventful day to say the least, but they usually are, considering it’s spent with Lover & I trying to recover from the festivities of the previous days. Lover, my Super, Hunky, Video Game Beating Husband, spent all day (& by all day I literally mean from 10:00am until about 7:00pm) playing & eventually beating Donkey Kong 3, not showing any mercy to enemies, bonus rounds or puzzles. He beat every last nook & cranny of this game. Where he finds the patience to do so, I haven’t the clue. He was so caught up in it that I found myself getting caught up in the action, too. I began to cheer him on & let out cries of “Awwwww!” when he died.

After a while, I figured that this was getting a bit dangerous. We can’t have both spouses completely involved in a video game; we’ll get nothing done! So I got [a little too] dressed & went to run an errand. Thus, my choice of attire for today.

Back when tube dresses were all the rage, I remember not even wanting to touch mine, for everyone (foxy grandmas, included) was sporting this dress. I didn’t want to give off the misconception that I was a copycat, so I put it away for a few years. I didn’t start wearing it until a bit recently… & now I love it, simply because this dress isn’t as common. People have moved on to bigger & better things. Just as I am an emotional pack-rat, I am also an apparel pack-rat. I will always adore this little black dress.

These pictures were taken outside of my apartment, in the path leading to my front door, without using my trusty tripod. Unfortunately, the scenery outside is horrid! So incredibly ugly. The rug (which protects the heels of our guests from stepping on jagged concrete blocks), the orange, crusty stuff coming from the walls that I could never understand, the dirt, the rocks; it’s a sight for sore eyes. When we first had a look at this apartment, I remember walking through here & bracing myself for the worst; not only was it a garage converted into an apartment, but the pathway was a bit ghetto looking. To our surprise — well, mine really, because Lover had already seen the apartment before — it was gorgeous inside & resembled nothing like that of a garage!

Even though the backdrop is hideous, I love the way the sunlight & shade made the pictures turn out. My hair looks extra-specially blue/black (maybe a little green?) outdoors, too, which is I think is quite lovely.

So random - my girly appt. is tomorrow and I feel the same way! I’m going during work though - fun. I love those tube dresses now, they’re so nice for running around in the summer (agreed, now that they’re not all over the place).

@ Traci Anne: Good luck with your girly exam! I’m sure you’ll be fine. If I can do it, anyone can. I am the biggest chicken you’ll ever meet.

@ Natalie: Thank you Love. :] Have fun PSP-ing.

@ katelin: all thanks to my grandmother’s tacky taste in jewelry! ;]

Totally dig the first picture. Neat angle. You should be playing with him. Only start with Donkey Kong 1 and work your way up together. So fun!

@ Gooseberried: thank you! It’s amazing what you can do all on your own, without a tripod. I think the photos are much more creative.

& actually, I have tried playing with him… but I have no patience with that game for some reason. I did help him, though, with all the bonus rounds & puzzles that I could remember from when I played it when I was younger. When I helped him solve yet another puzzle I kept asking him “what would you do without me babe? huh? What would you do without me?” ;]
